JUNE JULY AUGUST 2010
ANNUAL GENERAL
MEETING: Was held in March. Minutes of the meeting
were posted and e-mailed so most of you will know what
was discussed. The Committee has decided that there
will be a Half Yearly General meeting this year, with
one important issue being subscriptions, and it will be
held in September. You will be notified of time, date
and place. The place is a ‘given’
THE BAD
NEWS (I’LL DO THE BAD NEWS FIRST.)
Price rise: Unfortunately here we go again. So far
there are three price rises effecting out liquor
products. 1. 10% increase regarding excise tax, 2. GST
increase, to 15%, 3. Increase of packed beer. The
boffins in Clubs NZ and NZRSA have worked out that Clubs
will have to increase their prices by at least 15%
to stay even. This is a big increase (e.g. a quart
bottle of beer selling for $7.00 at present would have
to sell for at least $8.00. A handle Club member for a
Waikato Handle of beer would go from $4.00 to $4.60).
There is also the possibility that the suppliers will
have a price increase as well.
When all the price rises, taxes etc come in there will
definitely be a price rise. It will take some sorting
but do not be surprised when it ‘hits’.
Also do not be surprised if some products seem to have
gone up at a lesser rate than others. We will be trying
to keep our draught beer as low as possible. We want to
sell as much draught beer (compared to bottled/can beer)
as we can. This is because we get a rebate on the
quantity of draught beer we sell, thus ‘lower rate of
increase.’ So join the handle club and drink draught
beer and we all will be ‘on a win’.
I will be asking the Committee to wait until the 1st
October to bring in the new prices as that will give the
staff and me time to sort out the required increases.
THE GOOD
NEWS:
SHAVE DAY: Annie Falconer organized a ‘shave day’ to
raise money for the Leukemia & Blood Foundation. It was
a great success. See report from Annie, attached-(the
report is attached not Annie.). Well done to you all
who took part.
ENTERTAINMENT: As most of you will now know the ‘Dine &
Dance’ organized for the 5th June had to be
cancelled (due to lack of interest). However we are
soon having a “Mid Winter Xmas.” night. So let’s join
in and have a great night. Posters etc will be coming
out soon.
WEBSITE: Remember
The Club now has its own Web Site…the address is
www.waihirsa.co.nz
Have a look at it. All our entertainment is on the
Web Site. In fact this Bulletin will be on the Web Site
as well. If you have anything that you think should go
on the Web Site please let me know. I will put it on
there for you - anything of interest to our members etc.
There is no point in having a Web Site if there is
nothing on it.
GOLD MINE COUNTRY CLUB:
Every second Sunday of the month – see posters in the
Club. Now please abide by the rules for the Country
Club. They are an asset to this Club. If a member is
coming down to the club just for a drink the Country
Club don’t charge him/her. However if you are coming
down to be entertained by the Country Club and their
Guests you are expected the pay the entry fee.(only
$3.00) One member refused to pay and also invited
himself to have a some afternoon tea. That is not on.
FROM THE RESTAURANT:
Hello from the Ingots
Restaurant Crew. A big thank you for your support over
our first couple of months. With winter upon us we are
making a few changes to the menu to suit the season.
We will also in
the next couple of weeks introduce a special deal on
Sunday nights with a real good price on a combo of soup
and mini roast or mini roast and hot dessert or all
three for those with a big appetite.
Next time you
are in try our homemade Vegetable soup or Seafood
Chowder
If you have a
work or staff party in the planning we would be
delighted to give you a special quote for smorgasbord
dinners (pick a theme and we will try to work to it).
Clubs and social groups can be catered for on most
nights of the week.
In association
with the Entertainment Committee we are planning a
Smorgasbord Mid Winter Xmas Dinner with all the usual
trim like Glazed Ham on the bone, hot chickens and xmas
pudding. With some great entertainment planned for this
night we are hoping for a sell out crowd so bookings
will make our job easier. Keep 10th July
free and who knows what Santa may bring you.
We look forward
to seeing you over the winter (the heaters are on). (See
our Menu on the attachment) - Staf and Gail
