Newmont Waihi Gold's stand at the recent 'Made in Waihi' exhibition. The display explained how the Cornish Pumphouse was prepared and moved. The weekend also saw the launch of the book and DVD 'On the Move' which are pictorial records of the event. This is a must see when visiting Waihi.
Don't miss the Pit Rim walk. Everyone talks about it.
"Waihi Water Lilly Gardens. Est 1950" In the mid 1940's a Waihi farm was subdivided. Fifteen diverse acres containing natural flowing waterways were planted in exotic and native trees. A lake was created to reflect the beauty of the growing trees. Waterlilies and marginal plants were introduced to the streams, ponds and lake. And the trees that began as seedlings matured into stately garden watchmen. For the last 55 years the Waihi Waterlily Gardens have evolved and enchanted.
